How To Make Doll Shoes At Home Without Sewing
It could be fun and economical to design doll shoes from home without needing to apply to stitch and still produce good looking shoes. Stitching can be quite complicated if one does not know how to do so and a method that does not need stitching is better. You will need some materials to make the doll shoes and these materials are readily available in most stores at affordable rates. Vinyl is necessary for the project and the good thing is that vinyl is inexpensive and also easy to use especially if not flimsy. Leather straps could also be used instead of vinyl as the straps are a bit sturdy perfectly suiting this project.
Trims are also needed and there are different types of the trims including braided, sequin and others that are also suitable. Get foam of appropriate thickness and cardboards too as they will be essential when designing the doll shoes. Glue is also necessary and a glue stick that will help when placing the glue and it is important to use them sparingly so as not to create unwanted residues in the shoes. If rubber cement is used, it must be used in ventilated rooms due to having certain effects when one inhales it. The materials could be hard to cut or bore into and requires leather punchers, scissors and a hobby knife to cut them easily. For laces one may choose ribbon or poly cord laces for the shoes.
Once all the materials are present, take the pattern pieces such as cardboard, foam, and vinyl and cut them into appropriate size. The second step involves making holes in the uppers which are easier when a leather punch is used to do this. The next step is to stick the vinyl and cardboard soles together using the glue and ensure that they are properly glued. Next, glue the front upper to the upper cardboard sole and wrap the material around the sole while cutting small pieces to make the sole flat. The upper part needs to be glued together to the back part of the shoe and sticking the cardboard soles to the vinyl.
After this, use hot glue to stick the matching foams to the uppers and apply pressure for some time to ensure no gaps are left. Then take the trims and use glue to stick it onto the foam while ensuring to press so that they stick properly. Use the hobby knife or scissors to cut the trims to be of needed size and apply glue on the endings and then close the shoes completely. To ensure that the shoes are perfect, one might use old doll legs to act as shoe lasts to help in molding the shoes into perfect shapes and size.
