Bringing Together All Generations at Work
Generation Z , next to millennial, has the largest number of people joining employment today. We have a small number of people over sixty going into retirement. This is a workforce with a lot of diversity and that presents the HR with a challenge. The upper level management in many organizations still remains in the control of baby boomers, as much as this category has adopted mobile technology, there still remains a deficient in skills like typing. Its all about evening the scale between the tech-savvy but socially deficient generation Z with the socially fit but tech deficient boomers.
Sometimes it is hard to avoid generalization when working with different generations. Involving everyone becomes a bit tricky . Many people tend to associate generation with age but it has to do more with the historical experience. During the age of the Baby Boomers, the tech revolutions were the internet and the computer and it was the age of the free love revolution as well. The Baby Boomer generation would go on to become the most hardworking after the free love revolution. The Baby Boomers prefer the analog technology that allows them a more hands-on approach to work compared to the digital one, they like visible productivity. Thanks to intelligent character recognition that turns paper technology into digital technology the productivity of boomers that ate uncomfortable with technology can still be tapped. Telling what a future generation will do in the work place will do can be a little hard to be certain of . With the generation Z, they stand out in their own way as they are known to be well detected and from their parents they have a drive for mentorship.
This is the generation that is eager to learn and not take anything for granted . To successfully incorporate the generation Z in the workplace you should provide a mentor and preferably from the generation X or the millennial. They do well at the workplace and will bring in the knowledge that you wish you had some time back. Generation X is set aside from their can-do attitude that enables them to do well in what they put their mind to. This generation is also known to be an early adopter of new technology and trends which betrays the fact that they did not grow around much of that. Millennial are not easily understood by other generations in the workplace especially on the metrics of work, with freedom and mobility they will outdo other generations fast and read more now.
